DALLAS, TX – This morning, FOX NEWS updated its power rankings for the 2026 midterm elections and shifted the Texas Governor’s race toward Gina Hinojosa, moving it from “likely R” to now “lean R.”
In making the shift, FOX NEWS also noted that three-term incumbent and career politician Greg Abbott is facing “his toughest re-election challenge yet” after 30 years in public office, in part, because of data centers that have invaded Texas on his watch.
“Greg Abbott isn’t interested in protecting Texans. He’s interested in protecting his re-election chances. That’s why he’s hitting the panic button and trying to look tough on AI data centers. If he really cared about Texas communities, he could’ve paused data center permitting and asked for an audit at any point over the last 11 years. Instead, he took $20 million from data center special interests, vowed to make Texas the AI epicenter, and handed them some of the largest tax giveaways in the nation. Voters see right through his election-year promises and come November will remember Greg Abbott sold them out when it really mattered,” said Texas Democratic Party Spokesman Jacob Long.
FOX NEWS’s race change follows another significant shift from RealCleaPolitics, which in the last week moved the matchup toward Gina Hinojosa, calling the race a “TOSS UP.”
