Dallas ISD students build their medical legacy.
At just 9- and 10-years old, students at Otto M. Fridia Elementary School are exploring careers in healthcare. Inside the school’s innovation lab, they are diagnosing patients, examining x-rays, and fitting casts.
Equipped with anatomy models, exam tables, and medical supplies, the lab gives students real-world experiences. From diagnosing diseases, examining x-rays, and fitting casts, students are gaining confidence and getting insight of what to expect if they choose to enter a P-TECH program in high school.
“We want them to build confidence, see themselves as problem-solvers, and understand that careers in health and science are not distant dreams; they’re real possibilities for their future,” said Principal Christopher Stephens. “This is the legacy of learning that we want our Longhorns to experience.”
This is just one example of how Dallas ISD is helping students build their legacy. With college credit and career readiness programs, and 163 A-and-B-rated campuses, more families are choosing Dallas ISD.
